Europe meets in Venaria Reale for an unmissable day of cross-country, adrenaline-filled competitions and pure entertainment. La Mandria Park, on the outskirts of Turin, hosts the 28th edition of the SPAR European Cross Country Championships "Piemonte 2022", event that assigns the continental titles and brings together the best athletes of this specialty, many of whom were already protagonists this year at the European Championships in Munich last August. On Sunday 11 December, the big cross-country athletes and the emerging talents will compete on the path designed in the park, with the fascinating new passage inside Borgo Castello, in the evocative Galleria delle Carrozze, a 'postcard' that will offer an unforgettable memory of the route to all participants.

The event is one of the main seasonal appointments of the European Athletics calendar and is hosted by Italy for the fourth time after the editions of Ferrara in 1998, San Giorgio su Legnano in 2006 and Chia in 2016. Piemonte 2022, which will have a trial run on November 20 with the test event on the path of the European Championships, follows the edition of Fingal-Dublin last December which crowned the Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Karoline Bjerkeli Grøvdal as champions and among the U23 it reaffirmed the talent of the italian Nadia Battocletti and launched Charles Hicks, one of the five gold medalists in Great Britain, to the top of the medal collection.

Piemonte 2022 will be broadcast throughout Europe, showing the landscape and cultural beauties of the area, and promoting the cross-country’s practice, its values and honest competition. But the show can also be attended live, without paying any ticket, simply by reaching La Mandria Park, where dedicated areas will be set up on the route, to closely breathe the atmosphere of the race and the hand-to-hand athletes’ competition.

A total of thirteen gold medals, and as many silver and bronze ones, individual or team (senior, U23, U20), will be assigned on the morning of 11 December, including the mixed relay which will be divided into four fractions of two kilometers each, with two men and two women to make up the team. The challenge is launched, the passion flows, the excitement is guaranteed.
