From 20 to 23 July, the new generation of european athletes will compete for a medal and a great experience

The city of Grosseto will host the European Athletics Under 20 Championships, at Carlo Zecchini Stadium, from 20 to 23 July. It will be one of the most important events of the 2017 international calendar. Only the athletes who have not yet turned 20 (born from 1 January 1998 onwards) will be able to participate in the event and for this reason there will be the most valuable young  talents in Europe, who will become the rising stars generation in the coming seasons.

At the start of the Games more than 1.000 athletes are expected from 47 different Nations, accompanied by over 600 people including officials and coaches, to compete for 44 European titles in different disciplines of athletics stadia events: running, jumping, throwing, race walking and combined events.

For the first time in history, this Continental Championship gets back in a city that has already hosted it. Grosseto organized the event in 2001 and the Board of the European Association of athletics, in a meeting on 12 June 2015 in Oslo has given back the event to the Tuscan city. The inaugural edition was held in Paris in 1970 and Grosseto 2017 edition will be the number 24, the third in Italy. The last one in the Country was in Rieti in 2013.
