"It is the fourth time that the IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships is staged in Italy. After the editions of Varese in 1963, Pescara in 1965 and Turin in 2002, the Italian Athletics wanted to renew a fortunate tradition, which over the time has given to our Country moments etched in memory, and in the hearts of many enthusiast fans. With carved in mind the smile of a great champion like Anna Rita Sidoti, we bring Athletics in the heart of the Eternal City. Rome will be the protagonist of this event as the Italian public, with a drawn path in one of the most fascinating areas of the historic center, between the Colosseum, the Arch of Constantine and the Baths of Caracalla, and the arrival in the Athletics Stadium located at the foot of the ruins. An extraordinary scene, show within the show, which we are sure, will make this an unforgettable event. The maximum IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships will be not only a competitive truly memorable experience, a few months from the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, but also an opportunity to demonstrate the excellence of our Country, in a city of big ambitions and with an incomparable sporting tradition".
